Revision History
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
V1.4 -- Many, MANY changes this time. If these don't do it, nothing will.
A cash gauge at the menus... Tells user how much money they have
when they are in town, school, and home.
"View Other Character" option.
You can only mooch plus find a total of five times a turn (WITH
the limit set in the previous upgrade).
Some of the rudest messages have been lightened.
Grammatical and cosmetic changes.
An expert mode is available for users who already know what commands
are on the menus.
You can now only do or ignore your homework once per turn.
Town prank is more likely to break your skateboard, so you won't
be able to prank your popularity all the way to the limit by
using town prank.
You can view your character in all of the menus now.
ASCII picture AND ANSI picture. For the users who don't have ANSI,
they won't have to see all that junk for the ANSI picture.
Upper and lower case no longer need to be accurate when you're
typing the name of another Bart and leading spaces are
stripped from a character's name when he enters it the
first time.
You can't fight, prank, or otherwise annoy yourself anymore.
Two players cannot have the same character name any longer.
The list names option in school now gives you a chance to read
it (with "Hit a key to continue...").
Input string when typing another player's name will not let you
type any more than the maximum number of letters for a character
name (36).
Hopefully, that stupid "(C)ontinue, (S)top, (N)on-Stop? " has been
eliminated from the opening ANSI/ASCII picture.
This SHOULD work for Spitfire and Wildcat, but no guarantees. Leave
me a note about how it goes.
This "New features" info is accessible from the game main menu.
There are now 10 ANSI pictures, each with Bart writing a different
"I will not..." on the board (to be true to the show.)
Many other little things that you may or may not notice as you play.
MAJOR CHANGES:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Definable winning popularity--The sysop can now set the level
of popularity required for a user to be retired from the game.
The command is in the control file, under POPTOWIN. If you
want a good level, POPTOWIN 750 or POPTOWIN 1000 would be good
choices.
Rankings chart--Now, instead of the top Bart being listed, the top
ten are listed. This won't seem like a major change to the
users. It's more of a programming challenge than anything else.
NEW fight sequence--The fight scene was totally rewritten and now
includes a whole new menu where you can pick which weapon to
use for each attack, view your own stats and your opponent's
along the way, and run. Nothing like the old fight sequence.
YOU MUST RUN CONVERT.EXE TO CONVERT YOUR USER FILE TO THE NEW
FORMAT.
V1.3 -- The game has been BLASTED lately from several sources, so these
changes have been added:
There is now an object to the game, hitting 2,000 popularity.
Mooching is not allowed if you already have $100.
Finding money is not successful if you already have $200.
Upgraded to DoorDriver 3.0, which eliminates COLOR1.EXE and
CONFIG.DOR.
Newspaper is now stoppable (with a (C)ontinue, (S)top, (N)on-Stop
function).
"Hit <Enter> to continue" has been replaced with "Hit a key to
continue" (trivial change).
V1.2 -- "CTRL-C to Abort Text" Message Now Long Enough to Read
Top Bart feature now functional.
After a fight, you are told if nobody wins.
If you kill somebody, you actually get popularity.
You are now told when you lose an item.
The CITYNEWS.DAT file isn't as gargantuan.
Lunchtime payment problem fixed.
USEREDIT.EXE fixed (didn't work before).
